Martha's poem

Summer school for Jonathan and Martha is off to a great start. Sara and Hannah have survived their second week of college algebra. David is doing well in his new job in Virginia. Next week, me and the kids will be attending the Institute in Basic Life Principles seminar in north Dallas.

Not much to report this week, except that I am completely out of Jan's book. I have ordered another 300 copies which should be here by the first of August. In the new batch of books, I was able to include a new poem Martha wrote last month. She, like the rest of us, still miss Mom.

Momma, look at this picture I drew!
I worked hard though the colors aren't new
But I know you will smile and say
This picture just lightened your day.

Sitting down you will stroke my hair
You will gaze at the paper covered with care
Your eyes will sing; your face grow bright
You will affirm my work; you'll hold me tight.

Then why am I sitting, paper in hand
Staring out the window across the land
Longing for the praise a mother can bring
Wishing for the words that made me sing.

Please mother, can't you see
This drawing meant for you and me
I need your praise to fill a space
Oh won't you smile from your heavenly place.

Momma, look at this picture I drew!
I worked hard though the colors aren't new
But I know you will smile and say
Show me this picture in heaven some day.
