A Prayer Request

Woops, the days are slipping past faster than I thought. It’s been nearly 3 weeks since I posted an update. During that time, Martha was sick for a week with dengue fever (she’s fully recovered), our home schooling has started a new year, and I have been doing catch up work from all those things I left undone during our busy summer.

My faithful team members continue their CPM (church planting movement) efforts. Last week we celebrated our 2nd anniversary of the launching of our CPM strategy. Although not as fruitful as our first year, we still saw over 60 baptized this past year, new house churches started, and an encouraging growth in the spiritual lives of our house church leaders.

We are initiating monthly meetings for our house church leaders. I continue to write simple worship guides for our leaders. Every other week, I gather with my 7 team members to hear their stories of how God is at work in their respective areas, as well as tweaking our strategy toward the goal of seeing our house churches multiply into new churches.

May I present you with a prayer request for someone else? Nearly a month ago, the youngest son of my precious friends, Doug and Selah Helms, was in a terrible car accident. Suffering severe head injuries, his life hung in the balance for several days. Until now, he remains in a coma, battling fever and infections.

If you have read Jan’s book, An Uncommon Faith, you will know that Doug and Selah are my kids godparents. When it comes to raising godly children, they are the ones I look up to. Peter is the youngest of their four. An Eagle scout, he excels in his home studies, is a blooming artist, has musical talent, and most of all, shows his love for the Lord by what he shares with others, and by his consistent meditations in the Scriptures.

Doug and Selah are champions of faith, and they are endeavoring to make Christ known through this family tragedy, In their recent update (www.prayforpeter.wordpress.com) on Peter’s condition, Doug wrote, “…suffering makes itself familiar in lives where the Lord wants to reveal Himself.” Doug mentions great heroes of faith who, “by faith endured crippling losses under the hand of an Omnipotent God, and by love found firm stone pathways through waters of suffering. They created hymns from the depths; they left family legacies of unshakable devotion; they left nations they’d won to Christ. They beckon us to rediscover the solid footing as we cross those waters of suffering ourselves.”

Please join me in praying for my dear friends, for Peter, for his healing, but most of all, that through this tragedy, God would be glorified. Thank you.
