Thank you for your prayers for the Christ Emphasis Week at Central Philippine University. Over 1000 students responded to the invitations. I’m assisting the Chaplain’s office in forming the groups for the follow-up. Please continue praying that the students who responded will take the next step of joining their fellow students in studying 4 evangelistic lessons, which we hope to culminate in a baptism celebration.
During the past 3 weeks, we have enjoyed the company of Rachel, a friend of Martha and Hannah’s, from a family we have known for many years. Rachel and the girls packed themselves into Martha’s room and made several trips to help Rachel get a sense of life in the Philippines. Hannah J. joined us for a few days this week as well. Her parents serve our company in Manila. All the ladies, plus Jonathan, performed puppet shows for the 1000+ elementary students during their 5-day convocations. They became regular celebrities around the campus.
Earlier this afternoon, all the girls left, including my Hannah, who will spend a few days in Dallas with Sara before heading back to Liberty Univ. in 3 weeks. Jonathan and I are alone for a week while Martha joins 20 other missionary kids on a mission trip in India. 10 weeks of unregulated meals have added plenty of pounds for Jonathan and I. As school starts back up next month, so will our low-carb meal plan.
One of the illustrations I used in my messages this past week was that of a lady who was proposed to by the most handsome man on campus. When she asked why he wanted to marry her, he replied that he wanted a wife who could wash his clothes, clean his house, and work so he wouldn’t have to. Obviously, no one wants that kind of relationship; neither does God. Too often, our relationship with God is limited to requests for our needs rather than a desire to enjoy His presence and grow in His wisdom. As I told the students, there is no love more secure, abundant, and fulfilling than that provided through a growing relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
