From Hannah

Hello everyone! This is Hannah, Dad has assigned me the pleasant task of updating everybody on our recent goings and comings. The most notable event in the past several weeks occurred Friday, when our family was able to fulfill a long held dream. Finally, after so many years of waiting, we were able to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian! Woohoo!!! My siblings and I, having enjoyed the books from childhood, and been anxious since May 16 when the movie was released in the States, were overjoyed when it finally arrived in Iloilo and opened on June 4. We enjoyed the movie thoroughly and have not stopped talking about it since. Well, that’s about all that’s happened here. All our hopes and dreams hinged on that movie, and now we feel immensely satisfied. That’s all.

Just kidding of course. Other things have been happening. Dad continues with his weekly CPM training with several pastors. The risograph, our handy dandy printing/xerox-type machine arrived from Cebu and we have been able to begin printing the discipleship materials by the bucket load, which means hours of printing and folding in the future. Jonathan enjoyed looking through the risograph and made himself useful so now he may be called ‘printer’s assistant.’ Jonathan has continued with his math and language arts and fills his free time with playing on the computer, reading, and (most recently) lighting paper airplanes on fire and sending them spiraling off the balcony. Martha continues with her schoolwork as well and fills her free time with reading, perfecting her painting, and remininscing on the good old days when she adored the BBC version of Chronicles of Narnia. There is an evangelistic outreach event on July 5th and it appears like we may be a part of it. Please be in prayer for that event. As for me, I have been rather at a loss as to what to do with all this free time. I have never really experienced a summer when I didn’t have school assignments hanging over me. So I have read some, and when I got bored of Louis L’amour pocketbooks (which were the only books Dad could readily locate) I attempted to make a dent in our piles of boxes. I did manage to find a few novels to occupy my time but was too intimidated by the massive amount of boxes and gave up.

Aside from the training Dad continues to refine his discipleship materials. He has finished revising certain lessons but now is going through the laborious process of translation. Dad has been very busy these past weeks, trying to get the translation done and the risograph up and running. But we are going to get busier. This weekend we have some missionary friends from Manila coming to do a seminar and we are thrilled to visit with them. On the 19th, next Wednesday, we will be out of country for a FAMS (Families Abroad Made Stronger) meeting. We are about to die of excitement because we have never been outside the Philippines before for a meeting! Aside from the States, we have never been to a country outside the Philippines. We can list all the countries whose airports we have had layovers at but to actually tour another country, we have never done that. We will be gone for about two weeks; please be in prayer for travel and for good fellowship. We will arrive back in the Philippines June 30, and have ten days to move to our new/old house in another part of the city. I think Dad might have mentioned this house. It is not the house we lived in for 9 years before going to the States recently, that house is too large for our current family size. The house we are moving into is right behind our previous house, and it is the house Mom, Dad, and David lived in for a year and a half when they first came to the Philippines in the mid ‘80s. Sara was born while they lived there. So, its new for us younger Moseses, but not for Dad. We are also very excited to live under one roof together, and not having to traverse two staircases to get from our room to the guys’ rooms.

After moving, it won’t be very long until July 31, which is when I will leave for the States. Actually, I will stop over in Hong Kong for two days on the way to the States. A Filipina friend and I will be able to tour that famous city. I am also very excited about that! Two new countries in one summer! After that, I will spend a week with my grandparents and then start classes at Liberty University in mid-August. Please be praying for me at that time as I am nervous about dealing with roommates and keeping my class schedule straight. As I am homeschooled, I have never had to go to class every day and it will be a new experience for me. I also know I will be terribly homesick.

Whew, this update is a little longer than y’all are used to! Of course, I do ramble quite a bit. Thank you so much for praying for us and please don’t stop! Jonathan and Martha have adjusted marvelously to life here in Iloilo and I couldn’t be happier. I am so glad that I came back with them. I have been able to visit with old friends and re-acquaint myself with my homeland. And now that schoolwork is done, I laze around and make myself useful when I can, which usually takes the form of washing the dog once a week. We have had good family times since we’ve been back, as there is little distraction. For several evenings, I have read aloud a book while Martha paints and Jonathan does sudoku. I’ve read to them The Giver, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, and the Baker Street Irregular. I am currently on the prowl through the towers of boxes to find our next book. We have also watched several old Sherlock Holmes and Bonanza episodes. We are enjoying ourselves so much that it doesn’t seem too much of a sacrifice living overseas. Of course the downside is missing David and Sara and all of our friends in the States. But through your prayers, God is pouring out abundant blessings on us and the work here! Thank you!
