We have some good news to share. We were supposed to move out of this house next month and into another house in Richland Hills. But the missionaries scheduled to arrive here in June have decided to furlough instead in Tennessee. That means we get to stay at Wedgwood; we don’t have to sort, pack, move, and settle into another house. The kids are happy; my fragile back is happy.
So we plan to stay here (5504 Whitman Ave. / Fort Worth, TX 76133) until after Christmas, when hopefully we can return to the Philippines. My health has to cooperate though. Wednesday I received my latest CT scan results. I was supposed to have my 6 month scan in January, but things were busy then. The report says all looks clear except for “slightly increased nodularity” at the surgical sight where my left kidney was removed. My oncologist says it’s probably natural post-surgical changes, but he wants me back in three months for another scan just to be sure.
Got a letter in the mail today that says Jonathan will receive a character award in his school. I was pleased. The girls were surprised. Martha is doing better about getting her work done on time. Hannah continues to do excellent in all she endeavors. Sara received another scholarship award through Tarrant College. David made it back to Tennessee with one month of college left.
Though we still have our sad times of missing Jan, the children all felt that we were handling it pretty well. Then we realized that it was not WE who were handling it, but God’s grace being supplied to each of us through your prayers. “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2: 13). Apart from His grace (His power), we would no doubt be undone and useless. “Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life… so I will bless Thee as long as I live” (Psalm 63: 3-4).
